As we move further into the new millennium, the business world seems to be becoming more and more reliant on technology. Many tasks that were formally performed by workers have been taken over by computer automated systems.

New qualifications for beauty therapy will be developed by awarding bodies later this year after HABIA announced that new standards for beauty therapy have been approved.

Tracy Tamaris and David Alpert, UK distributors for the brand, presented owner Donna Gershinson with an engraved rose bowl and cash prize.

"Two South African clients came into Face It and could not believe we did not stock Environ," recalled Donna. "I went along to a seminar given by the company's founder, Dr Des Fernandes, and within five minutes was hooked." She added that business has since increased by 30 to 40 per cent and Environ facials account for nearly half of all treatments.

Education meetings will also be held, where lecturers and principals from the world will discuss the future direction and educational aims. There will also be seminars for spa professionals and a make-up competition, themed 'the sun in the sea'.
